Luke 22:39-46 Lessons; from Gethsemane

We have all heard of Gethsemane.

It was a garden at the foot of the Mount of Olives.

Here was where Jesus gave one of His greatest sermons.
Here was where He was betrayed by Judas.

Here was where He ascended into Heaven, thereabout.

It was in this Garden that Jesus prayed before He was betrayed by Judas.

We often sing, “Victory was won at Calvary,”

But in reality, Victory was won in Gethsemane.

Jesus greatest battle was in Gethsemane and it is in this garden that that one of His greatest victories was won.

We will never have a Gethsemane. We here sometimes “When you face your Gethsemane,” but I must ensure us, we never will.

We never had too.

We never could.

Yes, we will face difficult times, but never to this magnitude.

Jesus was alone in His agony, but we are never alone.

Throughout the New Testament there are references for us to “Be like Christ.” Though we never will on this side of eternity, we are to strive to be conformed to His image.

In this passage of Scripture we see three areas that need to be duplicated in our Christian life that Jesus exhibited.

1. 1. Daily Devotion (v.39) “wont”

2. 2. Daily Discipline (v.42)
3.
Daily Deeds. The greatest deed ever done was the cross.
