John 1:1-14  Why The Gospel Of John Is So Important

The Book of John is referred to as being the best Book of the Bible to read first, for new converts and for those seeking truth.

God’s Word is not meant nor designed to be a book that can be read and understood by an un-regenerate man.

When a carnal man reads the Bible he only sees the natural side.

You must have a divine nature imparted to you for the spiritual truths to come alive, for the Bible is quick and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

I prayed for the Lord to show me why the Book of John has been the book of choice by so many Godly men and women, why it has been the book most suggested to new believers.

I.                    We learn about Creation.  (v. 1-3)
If there is ever a time when we need this to be taught, it is now.  Creation has not been under attack under this generation because it has swallowed the world’s view hook, line, and sinker.
Many nature programs, movies, and songs refer to evolution as commonly accepted and accurate truth.

2 Peter 3 deals with this generation and their denial of the flood.

II.                  We learn about the Conflict (v. 5)
Genesis 1:1-5 God separated the darkness from the light.  There has been a separation ever since.
There has been a conflict between good and evil.
But evil doesn’t always show up in a negative way.  It looks very pleasing to the eye and satisfying to the flesh.
Isaiah 5:20 Woe unto them that call evil good and good evil, that put darkness for light and light for darkness…
There is a lack of comprehension that has caused such a division in the world.
To understand, to take on board, to obtain.

III.                We learn about true Conversion (v. 12-13)
Not of blood – Descent
Not of the will of the flesh – Desire
Not of the will of man – Design
But of God - Divine

IV.                We learn about Christ (v. 14…) He is the anointed one.
v. 18 He has been declared.  No need for scientific explanations, no need for proof in a worldly sense, just a simple faith in God.
Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.

The longer we serve Him the more we learn of Him.
His Work, His Will, and these are learned through His Word.
If you want to know about Christ, read the Word.
Luke 24:27

God made it very clear in John that Christ is the Word.
1 Peter 1:18-21

To know Christ is to study the Word.
